I am looking for an all in one web design solution that spares me from HTML or XML. There are lots of these kinds of packages around it seems but they seem a little cheesy.

What I am looking for is a program that will let me build a fairly sophisticated website in a matter of days. It should be able to incorporate all the bells and whistles of modern day websites and look classy. Also, I need to add a Paypal or Visa access to a part of it.

    Any suggestions are appreciated.
    thx.

It's been my experience that all those page builder with their generic templates are cheesy looking and scream amatuer. I would suggest paying a professional. Good luck.

  3. I've used this:
    http://phpnuke.org/

It doesn't work to bad and there seems to be a lot of add-ons and modifications for it. You just need to make sure the server your running it on has PHP enabled.

    Hope this gets you started

I hear what you are saying, they can look kinda low end. What wold be an approximate cost to have a webpage built by a pro-firm?

If I cant achieve the quality I need without spending endless hours myself to learn an advanced program, then it might be the best route.

    tygrus2000,

If you're looking for something really easy, but still retain the flexability
of a WYSIWYG, then you can try Netscape's (built-in one) I use it for really
quickies. But, it's pretty powerful. However, if you're into Frames, this
this is not what you want, as it does not support it inside it's WYSIWYG,
though you could use it via HTML code (very messy)

There is another one, that I like and use often, F$o$t$a$e (or, Frontpage)
This support Frames (WYSIWYG) very well. I like it a lot. And, the only
reason I got it WAS for Frames :P

FP, in addition to it's WYSIWYG view, also sports a HTML code window, as
well as a PREVIEW window.. like Excels' TAB sheets.

However, it can get a little confusing at first.

    Good luck,

  7. consider your market, and your needs.

do you need a "custom" drop down icon?
    do you need cookies?
do you need IExplorer.exe ""dll" kickback features?
how sophisticated are your viewers? will their firewall disable this type of activity? are your viewers anyone? or bradband only?

the idea about hiring an expert is good advice, if you really do not know what is going on.

and after all of this ...

is your marketing based only on web traffic? or have you additional avenues to explore?

    hope this helps ...
