When you arrive at this site for the first time, you are overwhelmed with the amount of information given for so many slightly different topics/ methods. Just look at the link given for the guides. Where do you start?

It is easier just to arrive at the forum and get some direct answers for direct questions.
I realize that it can be a little overwhelming, because you have spent X amount of time trying to figure out your particular issue. To try and gain a better perspective for what it feels like to be a "newbie" I went back to my original posts from when I first officially joined. I had spent about 3 months or so reading guides and reading posts to gain some basic knowldge. I officially joined in an effort to help other people out. I am not better than anyone else, but I remember when I began my time at this site it was after I had spent time learning some of the basics so I could ask an "intelligent" question. Mind you, some of them haven't been in retrospect.

I guess it is easier to ask a question and hope that someone decides to answer vs. flame or ignore than to self-help. I know Baldrick (moderator of the site) would have a heart attack, but I am wondering if some format changes are in order. The newbie guides and other pieces not being smack dab in the middle of the site. How does the registration part work. After you register, isnt there an email or something that tells you about the different parts of the site. I dont know, I am just trying to think of a way to make it easier for the less technical folks to get answers to their questions. The site has:

search functions, guides, sticky posts, forum divided up into sections, an exclusive newbie section.

My question to the original poster would be (and I am being sincere here), when you first jgot to dvdrhelp.com, what would you have liked to see that would have assisted you?
