  2. Could use a little "help" on this topic,,if anybody cares to jump in? This is on my brothers computer,,he ordered the Pioneer 106D(OEM), unaware that it didnt come with much of "anything"(I even had to rob a sound cable off of his older computer). Anyway,,I told him last night to try the last driver on the above list, it should be the one. This is his reply, I received this morning via email........"Well I downloaded the drivers (took about 30 sec) and installed and
rebooted, still doesn't work. When I bring up AutoShrinkISO it still asks me
to insert disc. When I installed driver it changed some things in
(registry?) so now I don't know if you need to uninstall when we find the
right drivers or not. I know this is above my knowledge so I will need help."

When we go into "my computer", the new drife is recongnized on the display,,but when trying to use "autoshrinkISO", we cannot select the "drive" where the device is located....any ideas?
    thanks,
    coadman

He's using Windows 98SE, and the 106D is on the same IDE as his cd burner, with the 106D being designated as the "slave" and the cd burner as the master. His harddrive is on the main IDE with it being the master, and another CD rom drive as the slave.

well the dvd burner should always be set to master, it just works way better that way, and that probably will solve your problem. i dont know much abot win98se, but on my xp pro system, it installed the drivers automatically when i put my drive in.

I haven't used W98 for a while, but do you have ASPI installed? Nero, if you are using it, has it's own version. You can download aspichk.exe to see what ASPI is installed. Forceaspi is in the 'Tools' section to the right and it has a set of tools to manage ASPI.

  7. When I had the Sony DRU500AX they had to be set to master to burn right junk burner's. My Pioneer AO4 work's fine on slave and so does my LG 4081 the reason there slave's on my system I just did not feel like pulling drive's out. A good drive should work fine on slave.

  8. thanks for the replies, guys! I emailed my brother and told him to try switching the jumpers on the two devices. If he doesnt think he can do it,,Ill go up tomorrow and change them for him,,,and I will report back if it made things better, or not,

  9. thanks fellows,,,I went up and changed the jumpers, and that seemed to correct the problem we were having. Now we are having one with autoshrinkISO, anybody care to take a stab at that?(its in the other DVD-DVDR section)...Also,,something strange,,maybe someone can explain to me. I opened up Nero tools, to look at the drive and see what the Pioneer firmware was,,,it said 1.08, and I thought the 1.07 was the latest firmware for this drive for Pioneer, anybody explain that?
    thanks,
