    WINKxxx

    where xxx is two to three random characters appended to the word WINK. For example, WINKAP, WINKZFU, or WINKNWK.
    If this service is listed, your computer may be infected with a variant of the W32.Klez worm virus.

  3. Thanks Jeex. That's what I feared. I reinstalled W2K (including Outlook Express) and I was checking my mail without having done the security updates and patches yet.

    I thought there was an option in Outlook not to run/open attachments automatically but now I can't find it. Or is that part of Internet Options in IE (activex)?

    Either way, I'll be sure and do the patches and updates.

    No reason to go crazy, just get AVG antivirus free edition and zap it.

    Nah, just annoying.

    I got the Klez removal tool from Symantec's website, removed it, patched up to Outlook 6, etc., and now I'm golden.
