  1. Hello, I have been burning vcds for quite a while, but i recently got a dvd burner. A friend of mine told me it was possible to put up to 4.7 gigs (instead of the 120 minutes) of video files if they are in VCD form (im assuming he meant mpeg). I have looked at a few guides on this site but it just confuses me more. Im just wondering what media, burner, burning rom, etc. to use, and how to do this.
    Thanks Alot

  2. Ok, after reading those I still have a few questions:
    1. It seems that all these guides deal with VCD's that have already been burnt to CD, in my case, I'm using files that are on my HDD. So, for example, if I am using [url=http://www.lordsmurf.com/convert/vcdtodvd/vcdtodvd.htm]LordSmurf's VCD to DVD Guide[url] , could I just skip the file extracting step and go right to TMPGEnc DVD Author?

Hrmm, I guess I only had one question

    Thanks Alot!

Then demultiplex the mpeg file, resample the audio to 48khz with SSRC and use these as source files for you authoring program...

  4. alrighty, another dumb question

demultiplexing, no idea what that is or how to do it

    thanks alot!

  5. Demultiplex means to separate the audio and video streams. You need to demux your VCD file so the audio can be transcoded to 48 kHz.

You can use TMPGEnc to demux any file. It's in the MPEG Tools section of the File menu.

Demux to separate, mux to bring together, remux to bring together again. Know mux, and you will know DVD.

  6. I am one with the Mux

    I think

I have the files de-muxed, and the audio has been converted to 48kHz, i muxed them together and it seems to be ok so far, my dvd burner will be installed by the end of the week, ill let you know if i am succesful or not =D

    Thanks Alot!

Sounds like you were all muxed up and now you're de-muxed!

  8. I have been working on doing something very similary to this. As far as I can tell, TMPGEnc DVD Author will automatically re-encode the audio for you as long as the MPG file you supply is a valid VCD file (352x240, 41kHz Audio ...) Just a thought, that can probably save you some time. This topic might be of use to you:
