  1. How much do Divx and mpeg 1 or 2 encoding compare to each other. Does one take more processing power than the other. I can succesfully convert dvd's to divx files but when i try to get those divx files from my hardive back to mpeg or mpeg 2 the computer crashes. Does mpeg conversion demand greater processing power???. I am running xp home, athlon 2200+,512 DDR RAM, 64 MB Ati Radeon 7000, 60 GB~30available.

That makes about as much sence as ripping a CD into mp3s and then taking those mp3s and burn CDs with them.

    Ridicules!
