I don't know why but alot of my backups won't copy with the NEC 1300a. The disk burn fine but to make a copy is a hit and miss problem.
I called the place where I got the drive was givin some bs about the drive not being good or able to duplicate from a backup only original source.
I have firmware 1.08 installed.
Now I don't know if this would cause the problem or not but the drive is on the same cable as the harddrive used to store the temp image. I even have trouble making an image of the disks.
I use dvd dycripter the latest version to make an image of the disk which starts the copy and then goes to retry/error hell.
I also use RecordNow! and get the following error:
px.dll: 1.6.14.507
pxmas.dll: 1.6.14.507
pxwave.dll: 1.6.14.507
pxwma.dll: 1.0.0.3
pxdrv.dll: 1.0.47.0
The funny thing is the disk play with no problems in my dvd player? Also they aren't damaged.
The media I used:
Princo 4x -r
Memorex 4x -/+r
Imation 2x -r
Longten 001 4x -r (don't know the actual company name but that's the name that comes up.)
TIA for any and all help!![]()

Probably you are using cheap media for yr backup. Try to verify you disc after burnt and you would find there are a lot of sector read errors. Standalone player is very forgiving to these errors and may just flicks. When you copy your backup again say using Nero, the disc is treated as data and one single sector read error would fail your backup.
