  1. hi all,

im sorry, i have done my research and concluded that the best 3 DVR RW drives are:

    811 Liton
    Plextor
    Pioneer A07/107 (same thing right?)

which drive would you reccomend??? also, how dodgy is burning a 4x disc at 8x? i have herd that the liteon can do this with the k firmware, can the pioneer do this??

    thanks everyone!

  3. hmmmm,

i know the NEC is cheap, but the general thing is that the pioneer is better burn quality right???

i just hope they bring out a firmware upgrade!!!

i bought my plextor 24x CDRW and still have it, i have burned LOADS od discs no probs, so i think i will go for the quality of the pioneer. i have also herd that it has v good media compatibility!!!

  5. oh!!!! cheers man!!!

do you think the NEC is better than the pioneer? dude- what would you reccomend?!?

i know this is typical noob, but the pioneer is more expensive, and has a better brand name quality!!! however, the burning of 4x at 8x is sweet!!!! does it not reduce the compatibilty of the disc or anything?

  6. The NEC appears to only rip dvd video to hardrives at 2X. The specs for the Pioneer show 4X (please confirm). Plextor reviews show 9X. If your ripping movies to HD then Plextor might be better. Comments?

  8. With that you have convinced me. The NEC is the way to go. If the firmware will let you rip at 8X then that's all I need to know for the price.

    NEC ND-2500A
    RPC1 firmware based on 1.06.

Can you suggest any media for this player and bets place to purchase. Avlogic.com sells it for 122$ but I need to pay shipping and tax.

  10. hmmm, seems to me like the pioneer may be a better long term investment, im sure a firmware update will be around in a month or so, and then i will be able to burn 4x media at 8x.
