  2. It would help to know what method you are trying to use to combine the 2 disks into one, using DVD Shrink.

Try this guide, it sounds like it would help you accomplish your goal:

  3. I copy one of the dvds as an image file and keep the other in the drive.the problem i am having is that with the second disc it doesnt recognise the large files at all.it give me about 3 mins of film as the main part and then odd bits of the film about 1 or 2 mins long as the extras(this is when i open it with dvd shrink). Its always with the second disc that i have this problem. When i look at the files they are all there.I had the same problem with TMPGne dvd author.

Don't use the Image Mode. Rip the first DVD in File Mode!

And, with the 2nd in the drive, there should be no problems.

  5. Here is the method I use:
    1) demux the m2v and ac3 files with DVDDecrypter. Check the last chapter of disk1 first to make sure there are no black screens or extra frames.
    2) Load the assets into Maestro, and add the M2V files consecutively in order to the video stream of a movie. Then, right click on the videos stream and select "export video" (I forget the verbatim of the command), and give it an M2V extension.
    3) right click the first audio stream for the movie and select "create synch audio track". Make sure they are in the correct order, and save the AC3 file.
    4) Do any necessary video transcoding with CCE, I use DoCCE4U, RoBa multipass, and if there will be heavy compression I pick 5 pass just to be safe. I also sometimes lower the AC3 bitrate down to 320 if there will be a lot of video transcoding.
    5) Reauthor with Maestro.

This is kinda a general overview, not very detailed. But if you've done alot of transcoding/reauthoring you get the idea.

  6. still no luck.
on the disc 1 it has Main movie
    Title 1 1,597 MB
    6 1,597
    13 1,597
    14 1,597
    15 1,597
the extras on this disc look ok.
for disc 2 even from reading from the drive it looks like
    MAIN MOVIE title 8 115MB
    title 11 115MB

title 9,10,12 in the extras of this disc are parts of the film.around 1 min long each.Title 3,4,5,16,17,18 here are all just the dvd fab pic for "enter disc 1" and "the end"
When i look at this discs files the are all there.
I am looking at all this with dvd shrink in the reauthoring part

  8. Here's how I did it with Gangs of New York:

First you need to extract the .vob files using something like DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink, then use DVD Shrink to compress them to a size that will fit on one disk. I haven't tried it this way yet, but you could probably use DVD Shrink to do both steps at once.

Then I used these steps provided by Megahurts:

    Quote:
2 Delete all VIDEO_TS files and rename all the disk 2 files and move to disk 1 folder as such.

    VTS_01_0.BUP (disk 1)
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    VTS_01_2.VOB
    VTS_02_0.BUP (disk 2)
    VTS_02_0.IFO
    VTS_02_1.VOB
    VTS_02_2.VOB

3 Run DVDToolbox, source = disk 1 folder, click 'Create video manager (VIDEO_TS.IFO)'. Takes about 1 sec. Close DVDToolbox.

The only difference was I had to use DVDFab instead of DVD Toolbox to create the video manager file because my version of Toolbox didn't have an option for this. Finally I created the disk with DVDToolbox.

    The key steps are to:

    1. Rip the DVD
    2. Compress the files
    3. Rename the 2nd disk files
    4. Remove the VIDEO_TS files
    5. Rebuild the Video Manager files (VIDEO_TS files)
    6. Create the new disk

How you do this depends on what software works best for you. It's also clear that there is more than one way to accomplish this, but this produced good results for me....

  9. i tried this method but any time i try to open a dvd fab disc 2 in dvd shrink i get "dvd shrink encountered a problem and cannot continue
Invalid dvd navigation structure".This happens with all dvd fab 2 discs so i cant do it this way.

  10. I haven't tried it in a while. I wonder if the version of DVD Shrink makes a difference. Fortunately, as with just about anything else, there are usually several ways to accomplish things....
