    Dear Experts!
I know this problem was already discussed here but not yet solved, imho.
So, can anybody help to determine the things which cause nd1300 fail to read some media :
    - PHILIPS 1-4x +R, just burned successfully at 2.4x on the same (!) drive,
    - VERBATIM 1x -RW, erased on Toshiba sd5002.
In both cases, drive just spins the disc on and on, and any attempt to access it through explorer or other program hangs until the disc is ejected.
Philips +R disc can be well played by my standalone, though.
My system configuration is as follows:
    - Athlon XP 1800+, VIA KT333 chipset
    - NEC is on secondary master, no other dev on secondary
    - Windows XP Pro SP1
    - Nero 6.3.0.2
Thank you so much in advance for your answers.

    Well, thank you!
I forgot to mention : I am already on f/w 1.0A latest official.
Indeed, it seems -R causes less reading problems, but anyway:
    - Memorex 1x -R (CMC...) - can not recognize (standalone reads)
    - No-name 4x -R (AN31...) - the same.
    Btw, I tried 1.07, 1.08, 1.09, and 108v2 unofficial - no change.
So, I conclude the problem is not in firmware - or, well, all NEC firmwares have the same bug

    Hi there, "experts".
I have replaced my drive in the shop - the new one works perfectly.
The old one was manufactured in August 2003, the new one - in November 2003. Perhaps they had other bad drives in that August batch...
    Good luck.
