Two simple, but basic questions:
My video is about 30 min and I would like to transfer it from my DVcam and burning it on a DVD without any compression and consequential loss of quality.
1) Which is the best format to choose in Premiere to transfer data from a DVcam via firewire?
2) Supposing to transfer data creating a AVI file (no loss, true?), is it possible to burn it? Will it be read from a standalone DVD player?
THANK YOU

No it wont play. After you have transferred your AVI file from your DV cam to your hard drive you need to encode it to mpeg2, the bitrate you use here will determine how much perceptible quality loss there will be, if aqny at all. You then need to author it, and then burn to DVD. Read some of the how to guides on the left hand side of this page for more detailed instructiond on encoding and authoring.
