I just wanted to know all the legal DVD resolutions so that a standalone player can read. What I really want is to put as much possible hours on a single disc.

Are you a PAL or NTSC user?
Use ½ DVD to use the lowest bitrates with good quality, forPAL that is W/H: 352/576.
For all resolutions for DVD look under "How to" over there <-- or do a search.Where is the Deadly Viper Assasination Squad, when you need it ? -

Thanks for your help but unfortunately I am an NTSC user so I don't get the higher resolution.but the faq was certainly helpful.

If you want as much as possible on one DVD, use 352x240. Thats is DVD legal (NTSC). As for the bitrate, I am not sure if you have to stick with the 1150kbps (VCD standard) or whether you can go up a bit. Anyone else?Originally Posted by Memo_182

That article also covers the NTSC legal resolutions (framesizes...)

I just tried several VCD movies onto a DVD-R and a few are 1150 and others are VBR 500-1500. Audio is MPEG MP2 224 and some at 128. All 48k. Work great!Originally Posted by fmctm1sw
Tried an interesting idea last night. Used TMPGEnc Plus to create DVD MPEG2 videos at 352x240! I will see if it worked later today. Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2 SE had no problem with the files.
