DVD shrink problem? Or is it Power DVD?

Recently I decided to give it a try with the DVD shrink, mostly for being it freeware and getting extremely good notes; before that, I used mostly Smartripper or DVDDecrypter to rip my movies and DVD2One for shrinking it, but I missed some more control over what I will keep on a DVD and what will I dismiss. Everything worked well, I both ripped and backed-up two of my DVD's and kept the extra content I wanted to, burned them with NeroExpress as usual. Both of the back-ups worked well on my stand alone home DVD player, but every time I tried to play the on my PC I got the same error message



Error Code: 89020003

The DVD disc might have been damaged so as to inhibit playback operation.


The DVD disk is NOT damaged, and as far as I can recall, I set up a "region free" option while in process of ripping/encoding. I use Cyberlink's Power DVD 4.O XP as my PC DVD player.

What am I missing? Any help would be highly appreciated!

don't use Nero instead use Veritas RecordNow

Powerdvd 4 has a problem with burned dvd`s and gives that error message,that problem has been fixed with powerdvd 5,nothing to do with nero burning.Also if you get the latest patch for powerdvd 4 that might fix that bug but not sure.

Nero utterly and completly rules. Never had any problems with it. Ever.

thank you for the info. As a matter a fact, I never had any problems with Power DVD 4 reading my backed-up disks until I began using DVDshrink. I will try to get the patch and see if it adds up.

Well, just in case that someone runs into the same issue, I will report my own findings.

Patched the Power DVD 4.0 with the latest available patch, it didn't help a bit. The DVD's I backed up with DVD2One replay without any problem on Power DVD 4.0, but those created with DVDshrink display the error message as reported above. I used Power DVD 4.0 for almost a year now and I was quite pleased with it, but after this happened, I took refuge and dug out the WinDVD 4 that I got with my laptop, but never have installed. I tried the DVDShrink DVD's with WindDVD and it worked flawlessly.

So, the issue is in Power DVD, which I have now dumped in favor of WinDVD; I like DVDShrink too much to give up on it, so WinDVD wins for a nose length.

Powerdvd 5 works without the error.
