Good luck, most won't take them back unless there are more than 8

Where is it?(center, top right, bottom left, etc.)
If its off to the side and barely noticible, i'd say no...why go through the hassle of putting it back in the box, taking the drive to the store, driving back, installing it again...I'm sure you've got other things to do. -
If its a local store that will let you take it back. But as was said before most places will not take back LCDs unless there is at least a specific number of dead pixels. (8 being common)

I had the same thing on my digital camera one dead pixel, I was toying with taking it back and then I just thought for £400 you want the top dogs not some reject.
Take it back. Stand in the shop and don't move until they exchange it. -

g_shocker182,
The best way that I can put it is............If it bothers you to look at it, then bring it back (if they will take it). Because in the end, you are the one that will be looking at that monitor everyday.

a long long time ago, i purchased 4mb of ram, but it wouldnt work in my computer. so i took it back to the store. they would not exchange or refund. they said it was "software" and i couldnt exchange or get a refund.. i tried explaining to them that you cant "copy" a memory module. they were too thick to understand. so a few days later, i went to the store with a friend. we didnt enter at the same time, but he wound up breaking the glass on the cabinet that contained the memory modules, pretending like he fell. i walked towards him like i was helping him, and while in the process i grabbed two 8mb sticks.
totally got away with it.. some people would say i'm a thief.. but i was just making things fair. they wasted my time & got me angry. the extra 12mb of ram was for that.
man, i was living high on the hog with 16mb of ram back then.
some of you probably dont know how expensive ram was back in the day.
buying a 4mb module and having it not work was a HUGE deal. -

You paid $500 for something that's probably made in China for $20 and you are asking if it's OK to take it back?
First off, are you sure that they are going to power it up?
Even if they do I say demand another one, and power it up in the store to check it out before you leave. And if they refuse to take it back I'd tell them to -
Do nothing.
I wouldn't send it back just for a very tiny green pixel. If you do, you'll be wasting your time.
Don't take any notice of it . -
Shocker,
What's your screen res set at?
That's a pretty big spot to be one pixel, looks more like a cluster of contiguous pixels.
At 500 bucks, is this a 19 inch? Say 15 inches across, 1024 X 768 res, each pixel is about 15 thousandths of an inch, a period at most in size. Yours looks like a 1/4 inch.
You got a defect, pal. I'd take it back.
Cheers,
George
If your res is higher, there are more bad pixels, as each is smaller. -
Yeah I'd say that's more than a few dozen pixles, it's not dead pixles either, more like a defect in the screen. take it back....

When you said it was a fourth of the size of a " . " I thought it was small. But that's pretty damn big. Take it back.

Its a really new monitor:
17" @800x600
You guys seem to see it wrong its really a lot smaller than in the picture. The reason it looks so big is because its blurred (notice "My Computer" blurred out of porportion also). Is hard to keep a camera that still. But in real life, its only visible because I have a background picture that is mostly black.
I'll try to get a better picture.
Edit:
Taking a picture of this thing is very difficult. I even tried a tripod but the picture is always blurred. I tried getting a really close shot of it but the camera managed to slip from my hands and hit the screen. god dammit
