  1. i use WinDVD5 to capture picture from a DVD (by press P). However, the quality is not as good as i like (when i print the picture out). ..
Is there anyway to set WinDVD to capture at higher dimension (or pixel)?
or is there any software to up-size the picture without or little lost of quality?

    thanks a lot...

windvd is going to capture it at its native size -- if you want it bigger you will have to resize it in photoshop or paintshop pro or some such program ..

i guess there is no way to keep the same quality when resize to a larger pic....

    You got it.

As BJ_M said, WinDVD captures in the same size as the DVD frame, normally 720 * 480. Increasing the size will only make it look worse. Filters in Photshop etc can help but can't completley fix the problem.

Upsizing will not help improve the image quality. Resizing it to fit to the dimensions of the printed output automatically by the printer driver is usually better in results.

On the other hand, I would try to capture using a different application. PowerDVD is another DVD player s/w and I have made a few captures from there. The frame size is of course 720x576 (PAL) but the image is quite sharp and good. Perhaps WinDVD doesn't do a very good capture.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.
