You can make a data cd using nero easily, just open nero and go to "file" then "new", select DVD on the top for compilation, then "dvd-rom iso" drag and drop your files there and make a data cd. Thats how i store most of my files too, since cdrs are only a measly 700 megs and are just incredibly expensive when compared to dvdr. If youre talking about reencoding your avis to be dvd compatible i personally dont see the point, you wont get better quality.Originally Posted by jay005

To find torrents you can start at places like suprnova.org, filesoup.com and bytemonsoon.net -
Because if he doesnt reencode and author, then he will not be able to watch the movie in his dvd player, if that's what he is wanting to do.Originally Posted by Moloko_Plus

Well the major reason is that most DVD players i have seen and used can read DVD-r but not AVI files on a CD. (Unless converted to VCD/SVCD).
The only way to watch AVIs is on a Compie but if the film is on DVD well i'm sure people can work that out.
As more people have DVDs than Compies i think that answers the question of "Why convert AVI to DVD-r".
