    I have avi 720*480 footage captured from a Hi8 camcorder and would like to burn them in svcd (40 min/CD). What kind of encoder is the best? I heard CCE. Is there any other better?

    BTW: How many passes is usually enough for a good result for CCE VBR multipass for this SVCD?

    Tmpgenc is also a nice alternative to cce, 2pass vbr would be good.

    I don't use CCE but from what I've read 4 passes is the max, anything more gains you nothing.
