  1. I have a MPG file in PAL VCD format (25FPS).

The audio track is completely out of sync, but in a curious manner. It's synchronized at the beggining of the video, it's out of sync after 2 minutes and through the whole file and it's again synchronized at the end of the video.

The whole file has 30'32", so it's not very long.

How can this be possible and how can i correct it?

    Thanx for any suggestions.

I had a laserdisk player do this to me. It was so annoying that I had to go back to my older player. It seems that the video portion was not tracking properly, which could be seen occasionally by streaks that would move top to bottom through a scene.

But why didn't the audio just stay in sync with the improper video? It may be because the audio was AC3, which may have had timing information embedded. When put into a DVD authoring program, the timing information is supreme.

Can you narrow down the problem section of the video, edit the video to fix the synch, then re-"join" the files when you author?

  5. Yes, but the problem is that the out-of-sync zone is quite long, approx 25 mins. What method do you suggest to try?

I'm still waiting for you to tell us what the video is and where it came from.

My question was related to authoring. I guess I assumed you were trying to author it.

Is the dis-synch (made-up word) consistienet? Is it X seconds off throughout the desynched part? If so, can't you just open it in virtualdub and resynch it?
