  1. I'm encoding a DIVX .avi file 506 MB to mpeg2 format so that I can burn to DVD using TMPEG encoder.

At the step of the wizard where it asks me to select the size settings of the DVD by changing % of disk, or MB. I set to 100% of disk capacity (4,200 MB). BUT by the time I compile with DVD LAB it exceeds 4.7 GB. If I set to less space, the video/audio quality is sacrificed in the final DVD with a lot of space left over, 700 MBs or so.

Is there any calculation or anything I need to do to have my DVD be close to 4.7 GB to minimize quality loss?

do you reencode the audio with dvd-lab? note that it is 4.37 computer GB and not 4.7.

  3. For encoding I have used a combination of either, tmpg to encode and tmpg dvd author, or tmpg to encode and dvd lab to author. On some occassions the compiled file was too large to fit on a dvd.
