Hi There...
I'm still searching for a good method of putting several VCD MPEG files (29.970fps, 352x240) onto a DVD.
I've tried several methods in the past, but all ran into the same problem - audio sync issues.
Can anyone suggest anything? Anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial or technique that actually works?
Bablos.

Try re-encoding your VCD MPG with TMPGEnc - MPEG1 352x240 - 29.97 fps - CBR 1150kbps video, and Layer2 - 48000hz - 224kbps audio. Once you've reencoded, use TMPGenc DVD Author. Have used this combo for past year, and haven't had any audio/video synch issues.
Good luck! -
Don't Re-Encode it. Waste of Time.
Try TMPG Author. Simply add the VCD and that's that. TAD will convert the Audio to 48 Khz for you. I do this all the time, and never had an issue with sync.To Be, Or, Not To Be, That, Is The Gazorgan Plan -
Anyone have issues with Tmpg author where you can't really go to any titles and have video show up? Sound seems to work, but the video definitely doesn't for me.

Right, let's see;

Any idea what I'm doing wrong here then?
Just tried it with an NTSC one, and it seemed to work fine. Now just got to get PAL figured out.Don't Re-Encode it. Waste of Time.

When you're setting up your video to encode, click the "Settings" button in TMPGenc, then go to the "GOP Structure" tab. Set "Output interval of sequence header" to 1 instead of 0.Tried this, but TMPGEnc DVD Author complains with the following error message when I choose the resulting MPEG;

To add sequence headers to an already-encoded MPEG file, use the freeware MPEG Sequence Maker. -
Gorgozan is correct TMPEG DVD Author is by far the best way to convert VCD to DVD. You should first use TMPEG encoder to demux the dat file into it's m1v and mp2 primary streams. Just rename the mp2 to mpa. Open the m1v in TDA and then the mpa. It will even "join" multi disk sets because it treats each disk as a chapter.

Thanks a lot for this hard to find tech info on TMPGenc. Actually, I found out the hard way--playing with all of the encoder's GOP options and re-encoding the same video clip with different GOP settings on each render, then drag-n-dropping the mpg file into the TMPG DVD Author hoping not to see the red GOP error message again.Originally Posted by bassband
Also, I discovered that the "Merge & Cut" feature of TMPGEnc will automatically add the right SEQ/sequence headers to the mpg file being processed. Just load one mpg file into Merge & Cut, change the output file name, and click on the "Run" button. I'll try the software tool that you mentioned too.
