Hmm! I wrote in a few days ago saying that i had a problem with the dvd discs i was burning my project on. My standalone (wharfedale m3) wont play dvd+r discs, yet it plays everything else fine (dvd+rw). However i played the same project on a friends dvd player and it works fine!
I know the problem lies within my dvd player but unsure wat it is.
    Any help would be great.
p.s i have set my player to all region.
    thanks

    Yup.

Not all players will play all discs. Your player won't play DVD+R discs. See

  3. mushkin,

Does your friend has the same make & model (i.e. wharfedale m3) DVD player like you?

    Cheers,

thankyou for your info, barrister it seems to make sense now.
So does that mean i have to buy a new dvd player that reads + & - ? and dvd+r & dvd+rw and all the lateset gumph that is needed?
By the way i forgot to mention the friends dvd player ISNT the same as mine totally different make( 50 years old) lol!
Isnt there anything i can do without having to buy another dvd player?

No. DVD burners weren't common when your player was made, so functionality is necessarily limited by the physical constraints of your player. Players are cheap now - Target and Walmart have play-everything models for $50.

  6. If your player plays DVD-R and you are otherwise happy with it's performance, then just stick with DVD-R. If you have a reason to prefere DVD+R over -R, you will need a new dvd player.
