Is it possible to make compressed files like DivX with AVI_IO? I just can’t find any codec in AVI_IO, like I can do in Vdub! Could someone please explain?

AVI_IO should pick up the same codecs your using with VDub.
I'm currently using AVI_IO with the PicVideo codec set at 19 to capture at 702 x 288 (PAL)through a Pinnacle PCTV Card.
Hope this helps. -

I've tried that, but the only thing that shows here is an indication that I should select a codec but non is displayed as a choice!
I forgot to mention, I'm using Matrox Marvel G400TV and the demo-version of AVI_IO, perhaps the codec option is only available in the licensed version? -
No, you can use codecs in the demo version as well.
So I am unsure, check also video settings> format> image format and source settings. -
When I selectvideo settings> compression, in AVI_IO, I get the same dialog as when I hit Video > compression (compatibility) in Vdub! There are no codecs here either. This would mean that AVI_IO is doing the same thing as Vdub in compatibility mode (internal mode). And that doesn't alow me to use codecs. Could someone please explain?

Make sure that in video settings>format you have YUY2 selected, and then make sure you have picvideo of huffyuv installed.

Yes, I do have YUV2 selected and I have lots of codecs installed, the problem is non is available here!

I had this problem (I think I still do) with my Win98 too. There's an easy solution: try selecting the codec with arrow keys, not with mouse. This way you should get to choose between different codecs.

Wow! Thanks a lot RoopeT!
This opens new doors for me, now I can get on with some real testing...
