    Hi

I have a problem encoding my XSVCDs to DVD, what I want to do is encode about 5 episodes of my favorite series and put them all on 1 dvdr for playback on my standalone player.

I have had no problems encoding VCD to DVD in the past with TMPG encoder and then using moviefactory to author the files, however with SVCDS all of the encoding does well using this guide

    https://www.videohelp.com/mpeg2tovcd

I didnt need DVD2AVI 1.76+ however as my files are already mpg files, so are readable in TMPG.

Right, the problems arise when playing back the dvds, they have an almost stop start feel to them (kinda jittery), and although they are very watchable, I feel as though I am not getting the same smoothness at all, that I would from VCD to DVD for example.

Are there any other encoding methods I could try to get the frames moving perfectly ?

    thanks

Well I hadnt tryed svcd2dvd but it was a bit of a disaster after I did.

However, I used the TMPG wizard and discovered many different settings, I also cut out the NTSC - PAL conversion and I must say the quality has improved considerably, even though that means I can only fit three 42 minute episodes on a dvd compared to five before.

    Thanks

Right, I thought I had solved all the problems, but it seems now the video is perfect, but the audio is just that little bit out of sync.

Were talking miliseconds but it still makes a big difference to the viewing experience, I remember with an old version of tpmg I used an external program to encode audio, SSCR or something, do you think that would help again ?

These are my current encode settings

SSRC is what SVCD2DVDMPG uses if it needs to do sample rate conversion. I think in TMPGEnc,under settiungs, advanced tab, select source range(!), you can set audio offset (called Audio gap correct) to compensate for the out of sync.
