  1. I have a sanyo avd8501 but im having problems with some dvds that are copied but all the dsks are the same make. The disks that wont play on my dvd play on one of my friends but still wont on mine. I have recently brought a multi-region disk hoping that this will allow me to play all copies but this didnt work has anyone got any ideas?

  2. THey might be the same BRAND, but that does not assure you they are the same MAKE. You might need to check them out with DVD info to get the media codes.

Copied discs generally don't have region coding - a "region free" player will not help in the compatibility stakes when it comes to playing recordables, I'm afraid. These forums are full of people with media issues, I am sure if you look in the player and media lists to the left and / or do a search, you will see what I mean.

Welcome to the fun filled world that is DVD-/+R.

    I have a sanyo avd8501 ...
You have an older player and it simply will not play all types of discs. See https://www.videohelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=1656&Search=Search&#comments. $650 in the year 2000 bought you a great player for that time, but that doesn't mean it will play -R/+R or anything else you might burn. But even the $50 players on sale at Target will now play nearly anything you throw at them. Time to get a new player.
