  1. First off I'm new to this VCD thing but I think I understand things.
I'm trying to RIP DVD's using the newby guide on this site. Everything goes fine until it comes to encoding the .dv2 file in TMPG. I have installed the VFAP Plugin and tried copying the DVD2AVI.vfp files in the TMPG folder as the guide instructs. I still get the error: "can not open or unsupported." Anyone know anything I can do? I have tried on 2 computers and get the same error.

    Any help is appriciated!

    Thanx,
    Fat J

dvd2avi> help, check VFAPI plugin (make sure, you have a dvd2avi.vfp file in the dvd2avi directory)
TMPG: Extract both TMPG and TMPG.vfp to the same directory. Run the ...Install.bat. Open TMPG, go to option and check TMPGEnc.vfp is registered to VFAPI.
Go to option> enviromental setting> VFAPI plugin, check DVD2AVI project file reader and set it to higher priority if necessary.

does it matter if I run DVD2AVI in the same directory as TMPG? Also could my DV2 file be bad??

You can run both dvd2avi and TMPG in the same directory, no problem. Did you moved the .vob or .d2v after creating the .d2v?
Open the .d2v with wordpad and check, whether the full path to the .vob files is correct or not.
