My mate, who is pretty PC savy, just bought himself a dvd recorder for his pc and asked my how to backup his son's discs. Simple mate I said, it's a 3 step process. Decrypt the files, use a transcoder, and burn. At the risk of being flamed I gave him some brief instructions on using DVDDecrypter, DVD2One and Nero. (Well sure works ok for me).

I even jotted him down some brief instructions and pointed him to this fabulous site, like I say he is PC literate.

Over the weekend, he toasted about 20 discs. So I asked him what was happening.

He said the backups work fine in his PC, not on his standalone. Well I went through it step by step as to what he was doing .

After decrypting the little dipshit decided he didn't like the look of some the ifo, and bups so he deleted them. People, I couldn't beleive what I was hearing.

I swear I'm not letting him anywhere my system32 directory

I had a grin all the way home just thinking about this. Has anyone had any similar experiences. That is you believe you've explained something, only to find out the other person just didn't get it at all?

  2. i've tried and tried to get a friend of mine to use dvd decrypter to rip his movies.. but he insists on using smartripper.. even on single layer movies.. and he still runs them all through dvd2one, even if they're single layer.. ditching audio tracks that he wouldnt need to lose & leaving RCE.

He's just stuck in his old habits, reminds me when widescreen TVs were pretty new and I just had to get one. My boss took the piss saying that you get black bars.

I tried to explain that having widescreen means you see more of the film, not less and he wasn't having it until I stuck gaffer tape on his 4:3 tv.

    He's now converted!

    Sounds like he can't listen.

I'm related to such stupidity. I'd rather not explain. Needless to say... I utter the words "DUMBASS!" in his direction quite often. I probably wouldn't do it if he'd at least listen instead of argue. He's one of those that will argue even when proven wrong. Can't stand that.
