  1. i usually encode audio intoa WAV file, usually my downloads are 2 channel audio compressed with MPEG.
i have just downloaded a film with 5 channels with unknown compression (tag 2000). therefore i cannot encode audio or encode the film through TMPGenc.
is there anything i can do?

  2. tag 2000 is AC3 if I'm thinking correctly. Use VirtualDubMod to save out the waves then use headache to fix them (not the correct terminology but that's what it does.) Encode, wash rinse repeat.

Make sure you have the AC3 codec installed, test your file with Gspot.

You can extract a wav file from the avi directly with Goldwave, just load the avi then save.
