    I just bought a LDW 451s and I want to make sure im at the lattest firmware b4 i burn... I see on the main liteon website that there is a firmware update for my burner but since its new it might already be on it?

    so I just need to know how I check what firmware im currently running thanks.

  2. Go to Device Manager and select your drive and hit Properties.
    Nero InfoTool works too: www.cdspeed2000.com

    device manager only tells me driver version not Firmware... But thanks for the link to the info tools.. It worked and I found out I have the latter firmware and no need to update.. thanks

    The quickest way to find out the firmware version is try and install the latest version firmware,it always tells you the firmware version you have before you update.

    The latest firmware is B6!

    -start menu
    -programs
    -accessories
    -system tools
    -system info
    -double click components
    -click once on cd-rom
    -look for your drive
    -look at PnP device id
    -the version is show between the -------------------??????-----------------

    DVDInfo will give you alot of info about your drive (and whatever media you have in the drive).

    Quicker: Checking display when PC is started- if too quick freeze with break-button when you see optical drive.
