  1. Now, it's a little long story so bear with me. At First, I have a clean install of WinXP on my computer and i've installed dvd2mpg116 and panenc21 MPEG encoder. Then my DVD video got too dark (not realizing that I need to disable dvd2mpg) I re-installed my WinXP (without formatting HDD).

Then, I've installed dvd2mpg116 and panenc21 MPEG encoder again. Then I have settings on dvd2mpg116 EXACTLY as the instructed in this URL: https://www.videohelp.com/DVD2MPGSqueezer/DVD2MPGSqueezer.htm

Then I did the following steps...
    - Initialized graph
    - First Test OK
    - Second Test OK

    - "Export Audio" in "General Settings" panel is disabled. Create MPEG1 Video Stream (.m1v) ?
    - Clicked OK

    - Panasonic MPEG1 Enconder Plug-in - MPEG1 Parameters dialog opened up
    - Clicked Continue

    - Playback and play...The first chapter (DVD X COPY Warning chapter) is playing

    - And just when it move to "real" movie chapter...it crashed with Illegal Operation

_ Now I've tried with my friend's cleanly installed laptop with this dvd2mpg seqeezer and it worked perfectly so i am suspecting that this computer may have suffered some form of mis configuartion when i re-installed WinXP without formatting my computer.

Also can't install XingMPEG Encoder 2.20. Here is what I did...

    1. Run xingen22.reg
    2. Run xme220.exe
    3. and error message appear "The parameter is incorrect"

So could you guys please advice me some "tweaks" so that DVD Squeezer can work on my computer and back up the DVD again. Thanks!

But here are a few things I can't do with my computer anytime soon...
    1. Format and re-install WinXP
    2. Re-install WinXP

Please tell me some tweaks without needing to do any of the above things.

I also have following stuffs installed on my Machine (And my friend's laptop)...
    1. Power DVD 5.0
    2. Nero Burning ROM 6 Ultra

    Thanks all in advance!

OK, I understand that you have a problem running DVD2mpeg116 on your computer.

But, please tell us what you want to achieve.

You know, you may have a problem running a program but be able to run another that does what you want and perhaps much better.

I tried to find info about the tools you are using and I dare say they are a bit outdated.

So, please let us know what you want to achieve so that we can provide you with info on ways to do it.
The more I learn, the more I come to realize how little it is I know.

  3. Thanks for the reply Sasi.

What I would like to do is basically convert VOB files to MPG or AVI files (or to VCD format).

    Thanks again!

Try DVD Shrink to rip your DVD.

Use Virtual Dub mod to open your VOBs, and save them as AVI files, or frameserve them to TMPGEnc to be converted into MPEG files.
    Hello.

  5. Based on the excellent guides on this site, the method I have used with 100% success for creating VCDs over the last 4 years is:
    1) Decrypt with DVDDecrypter or SmartRipper
    2) Create an audio (.WAV) file and frameserving file with DVD2AVI
    3) Use TMPGenc to encode the files from 2) to MPEG1
    4) Use VCDEasy to create the final VCD. (Can also use Ulead DVD Workshop for easy menu creation)
