I have been trying to 'back direct' a modulated signal from my DVD player into the Structured Media Center to show the DVD's thru-out the house on a dedicated channel. The modulator I have (Phillips PH61153) only coverts signals on channels 3 or 4. The problem is, my cable service broadcasts on both of those channels, so there is major interference to those channels (the incoming cable signal and the redirected DVD signal). The only way to eliminate the interference is to filter out channel 3 or 4 of the incoming signal.

There are 'notch filters' available, but the only ones I find block out the 6 channel from 75-80, not 3 and 4.

Leviton makes a unit which will do what I want, but at a cost of $500.00 US. I cannot justify that expense for this convenience, but can justify the Phillips unit for $20-30 plus whatever filter I need.

Does anybody out there know of a filter to do what I want?

I do not want to put any kind of antenna switch at the entertainent center, which would also do the trick, but cost me the ability to watch cable in the same room as the DVD player.

    Thanks.
That's all very good, but also very technical. That's OK, I can figure it out if I can get a splitter apart! Do you have any idea what length of cable would be needed, approximately, for channels 3 or 4?. And as the length decreases, does the channel blockage also decrease? Ie., shorter line, lower channel?

  4. The way I did this was to connect one output from the DVD player to the input of a VHS tape recorder via a scart lead (we use scart leads over here). The DVD player had 2 scart outputs so the other one went directly into the TV it was next to.

I then connected the coax output from the VHS recorder to the input of a signal booster/splitter. Then connect the outputs from the splitter to all your TV sets over the house. I also do the same with my cable signal so I can watch cable on all my TV's with only one cable box.

To watch the DVD on one of the remote TV sets, set the VHS recorder to AV and tune the remote TV set in to recieve the signal.

I still use this set up to watch my cable all over the house, but I dont use it for DVD anymore. DVD players are so cheap now I just bought one for each TV set.
