  1. Ok peops,
I have a serious question ! How and what is THE fastest way of converting 23fps svcd episodes into NTSC DVD quality ? So, I can burn them off as DVD video ? Do i have to convert each one to mpeg2 ? Or should I just burn them off as svcd onto a dvd-r ? I want to play them on my USA DVD player at home, also, I want to be able to make a "Episode" DVD, including a menu and a chapter selection for each ep. IE: Chapter 1=ep #1, Chapter 2= Ep #2...etc...

I hope someone is a better hope than me, I have been studying this thing for almost a month, and with all kinds of software out there, I don't know what to use... I do however, have done VCD's No Problem there, but converting SVCD's into DVD's ? New area to me, the following is a list of software that I have and use....

    1. TMPGenc Plus
    2. TMPGenc DVD Author
    3. VirtualDub
    4. Virtualdubmod

Thanks in advance for your help,
    Scott

  2. Your title mentions .avi, your message doesn't, so which is it?

Lets assume you have SVCD source material.
Lets also assume your SVCD's are raw mpegs. If they are not search the forum and guides on how to extract raw mpegs from your SVCD's, its not difficult.

There are two ways you can go here.

    1) Make SVCD-DVD
    2) Re-encode the SVCD's to be DVD compliant.

There are several guides on doing 1 here

  3. Thanks,
After reading some of the guides, I htink I ha ve found the one that I needed !

But, I have another question...Ok, Most of the episodes are encoded in Divx, That's what it says anyway, but sometimes, only a few of them say that they are "Opengml" ?? What the hell is that ? Will that make any difference at all ??

    Thanks,
    Scott

    Never heard of it.

To be sure what codec was used to encode the avi, open it in Gspot.

  5. Oops,
    Sorry...
It is a OpenDML .AVI type of file ?!? New to me, but almost 25 out of 40 are OpenDML. But, all of them are DIV?. So, I would have to convert the avi's into svcd's ? Or could I just use a software program to convert the .avi's into mpeg or mpeg2 for DVD authoring ?

    Thanks,
    Scott

  6. So OpenDML is just part of the filename. In that case it means nothing in terms of what codec was used.

You can convert any avi's to almost any format, be it (S)VCD or DVD. (BTW SVCD is mpeg-2. VCD is mpeg-1)
