  1. hi all. Im new to all this SVCD stuff. Ive been trying to follow a guide on how to convert an XVID file to SVCD using VirtualDub for the first part, but i get an error message saying about "decompressor couldnt be found for format XVID (Unknown). It requires Video For Windows (VFW) compatable codec to decompress the video. Direct show codecs, such as those used by Windows Medi Player, are not suitable."
If any1 can help it would be much appreciated as ive been trying to do this for ages now!!.

    Thanx in advance.

  2. That type of message typically means that you don't have the right codec installed. Have you downloaded and installed an xvid codec?

If not, you can get one here:

  3. thanx, that helped. But the only thing is now that i get another message pop up now saying the audio steaming must be re-written. I think that was because i dont know what to put in the FourCC boxes. I just tried and is waiting to see what it does.

You probably have an AVI with variable bit rate audio. Go to the audio menu and select "Full Processing Mode", then go to file and select "Save as WAV" and choose a file name. When you go to convert to SVCD, choose the wav file as your audio source.
