Ok aspi no longer works on my computer. DVDDecrypter will give me an IO error, and another app will misbehave becuse of this.
I've tried Adaptecs current offical aspi.
Force Aspi
and the ASPI XP listed on DVD2SVCDs site, no go. Cannot swich anything to ASPI.
I'm about ready to chunk this computer out a window, suggestions? Preferrably on how to KEEP me from chunking the computer.

Problem not solved but worked around.
Copied the NERO WNASPI32.DLL into the program folder that needs aspi, error gone. How strange. -
You can also copy the WNASPI32.DLL into windows\system32 folder so all programs that need it one day will use it from there.
