  1. Can someone tell me if there is a way to capture a frame from an AVI file that would be sharp enough to print like a regular picture? My AVI file was captured from DV source and is great quality. However, I have tried a few different programs to capture a single frame and so far the only really good one (sharp) has been with Windows Movie Maker. The problem is that it is too low of a resolution to print out bigger than a 2" picture. Am I asking too much? Is this even possible? VirtualDub was no better than capturing a frame from my DVD in WinDVD.

If you are capturing a single frame it will only be 720x480/576 at best in resolution, nothing is going to make it better. The moving picture is always better than a single frame.

  4. Thank you all for your posts. I tried the VirtualDubMod, but with no better results than any other program I have tried. It's not bad, it's just not real sharp (kind of fuzzy). I am amazed at how well MediaPlayer can pause this same frame during AVI playback and get a near perfect sharp image. The problem is I can't print or save from this program, or can I?
