  1. Ok. I got a file that after some work I realized was an xvid. I am trying to convert this to mpeg2 with TMPGEnc so I can burn it on a DVD. When I try to open it in TMPGEnc it says it cannot open the file or it is unsupported. If anyone has any ideas of why I can't do this or another good way to convert this to mpeg2 please let me know. Thanks

Make sure you have the xvid codec installed with G-spot. Just because it plays doesn't always mean xvid is installed. If it's there, change the priority setting of the Directshow file reader to 1 or 2 in TMPGEnc. It's under the Environmental Settings>VFAPI Plugin tab.

I'm gonna guess your XviD is actually ffdshow?

If that's the case, TMPGEnc (any version) can't open it. You'll need to download the actual XviD binaries. The tool section to the left of this page will provide the URL for them.

    Cheers

It usually means your Direct Show priorities are not set correctly. Click here.
