  1. Memorex dvd-r 4X
Has anyone used this media, and if so what were your results?

I thought this would be a good brand. I've had excellent results burning on cheap media and this wasn't cheap. Now I'm getting choppy pixelation and freezing in the later chapters of my back-ups. I have a Pioneer 105 burner and I use shrink and nero.

    Thanks in advance

I have a DVR-A05 and I have used them. I bought a 25 pack, first DVD-Rs I ever bought. I didnt have any problems but some people do. They worked perfect for me and I havent had any playing problems what so ever. I think I had like 3 become a coster, but it was my fault. So give em a try.

  4. I just used up a 25 pack spindle of these and have used several 5 packs that I bought from Wal-Mart. I've never had a single coaster. The only complaint I have about them is that my batch of 25 would only write at 2x. The five packs wrote at 4x. I use the Optorite DD0203 and a RCA and JVC standalone players. All in all, good media with me. However, I switched to Ritek. I heard they were better.

With regards to choppy media at the later chapters, try burning at a lower speed. Just one step lower should do the trick.

  5. I have the CMC Memerox DVD-r 4x works great with my LG 4040 with A302 firmware, before A302 it can only burn 2x but now 4x. Never had any problem with either 2x or 4x burning.

  6. Now I'm confused. What is the use of having a 4x burner if you can't burn at 4x? I just tried to burn at 2x and it worked flawlessly on the memorex dvd-r. Grrrrr! I even have the latest firmware for my A105 drive.

What does it take to be able to burn at 4x? Should I try a different media or is it something in my drive?

I have purchased and used 3 spindles of 50 memorex dvd+rs, all purchased from the same place; the first two spindles worked flawlessly, but almost every single movie i tried to back up using blanks from the third spindle had glitches in the last 20 or 30 minutes...from what I read my thought was that I got a bad batch...I read a post just now that said to try lowering my write speed but if I already burned 100 without one coaster it doesnt seem like lowering my write speed would fix something that has happened on every disk so far, but it is worth a shot..I only have five or six disks left from that spindle (ritek g04s on the way), but i will try lowering the write speed and post what happens...

  9. been using the Memorex 4x-R for months now and so far so good. It work beautifully with my Sony DRU510. Also, the media play well on one of my DVD player in which it was having problem reading other media I ought. Will only be buying Memorex since it work on everything I own.

  10. If these are the discs in the jewel cases with the dark blue inserts, I've used 'em. They seem to be fine, but I don't go past the 4GB barrier so I can't attest to their quality when entering the Death Spiral.

  11. okay I tried what jcook5000 said above, thanx for the advice...cmc disks suck! I made like 20 coasters, didnt try lowering my write speed until i read the post above...but it did work. I burned three backups writing on my plextor at 2.4x and they came out flawless, but not buying any more memorex dvd+r...switching to ritek

  12. I read this post and realized I have backed up over 300 mostly with memorex-r 4x media most cmc code. Maybe one in 50 being a coaster I burn with a sony 510a with the latest firmware. Most don't make it past lead-in.My Brother uses a pioneer ao6 with he said 50 backups no coasters
