  1. Hi i'm looking or the name of a converter that changes RCA leads http://www.transom.org/tools/photos/200207.rca.jpg
to a small jack lead, I have seen one before but can't remember the name. Theres 2 inputs for Left and right audio from the phono leads and a jack output.

I'm holding one in my hands right now but it's hard to type so I'll set it down
There is no name on the package but here's what it says:

"Y" cable 3.5 mm stereo plug to 2rca plug.

This is a very inexpensive "Gold Series" version made in China and distributed by "Chateau". Paid $1 can at the local Dollarama store but unbelievably it works so good I bought a spare.

The molded female rca connector will fit to the male rca plugs in the photo.
I have a cable type connector instead of the molded body in your pic but it works the same way. I had a molded plug like that before but found that it didn't fit well in the tight space at my sound card and also put more weight (pressure) on the male 3.5mm (1/8 or 1/16 in) pin.

  5. Yeah I was also thinking about the space around my soundcard jack. Your cable one, how does that work? I guess I wouldnt be able to use it because on the other end of those rca's is a regular scrart cable. I guess the molded converter is the only option.

  6. uka100,

What gll99 says is correct - those little moulded plus are a pain. Too little space, as you say and half the time they don't fit correctly.

You can use the 'Y mini jack to RCA" quite easily with your scart lead by getting a couple of male/female phono connectors. These are just 1 inch long connecting to your male audio phono's from the scart lead and male audio phono's from your 'Y' cable. Couldn't be simpler

The cable works the same as the molded plug.
One end of the split 8 foot cable (Y connector) has 2 female rca jacks and the other end has a single male pin just like the single tip of the molded connector in your picture.

I have a multi source video/audio switch box that I link to my sound card and video capture card. I have a svideo cable connected from the switch box to my capture card and I use this Y cable to connect the audio source left and right channels to my sound card. My digital cable box, vcr and dvd player connect to the switch box and the output from the box is input to my computer. I no longer have to play with any connectors. I only need to select any one of five input sources by just pushing 1 selector button on my switch box.
