  2. 1) Not to my knowledge - Mpeg format is more difficult to modify.

    2) if your capturing setup allows, reducing the bitrate will reduce file size, but with a corresponding reduction in viewing quality.

  4. VirtualDubMod works with MPEG files. It won't capture to MPEG (as far as I know), but will let you manipulate the file.

  9. Womble MPEG-VCR would be the closest thing that I know of (and use). It will let you easily cut out commercials, save to different bitrates, etc. I don't think it has any sort of filters for noise, though, and it is payware... around $120 or so.

One of the things that I've noticed with my MPEG TV captures is that it doesn't look so good on the PC, but looks great when I burn to DVD and play on a TV. Keep in mind you are capturing an interlaced source (assuming you're in the US) and thus, it will not look great on a monitor (in my experience).

If you want to spend the bucks, you could also try Main Actor or Adobe Premiere Pro. These programs handle mpg input pretty well and have various filters.

Or you could frameserve to CCE or MainConcept's MPEG Encoder with an AVISynth script. More on that in the guides to the right.

    Good luck!

I use Womble quite a bit and it's the best. Oh, and the guides are to the other right. :P

You can always use Virtual Dub and framserve to TMPGEnc. I do it often, and it is almost like capturing in MPEG, and you only have to save once.
    Hello.
