  1. I just bought the forissim III 7.1 sound card, and now i am trying to send out the audio through the optical out (so i can use dolby digital surround through my receiver) and I am having no results. Has anyone else done or tried this who can help? thanks

  2. The only type of sound you're gonna get from your PC is PCM audio, unless you're watching a DVD movie through it (some DVD software players can enable SPDIF, which can give you Dolby Digital through movies only, if it's encoded in DD). I only know of PowerDVD that can do this.

    windvd 5 has the option to use spdif out as well,but as vivisimonvi pointed out only for movies encoded with dolby digital.

  4. If you don't have, or want to pay for, PowerDvd or WinDVD then install the Ac3 Filter (see tools on the left) and Windows Media Player will play them as will Zoom player and probably lots of other free players.
