Hi,
I'm in the market for a DV camcorder.
One thing I want is the ability to use the camcorder as a real time passthrorgh from my analog tapes to my computer. via firewire.
I know some units allow analog to tape and then to to fireaire, but I want in one shot.
The Sony dcr-trv22 and 33 have it. Any opinions on those?
What other camera are good at this. And are pretty decent and small video cams.
The sonys alsp have built in convert to mpeg from the camera which looks cool too.
Will the pass thourgh be the same/better or worse than a canopus advc50?
Thanks for any and all help.
Allen

TRV22 and 33 are both good camcorders. TRV 22 has a wider angle lens. You will get a wider coverage. The tape picks up a little noise on both models. You might also want to look into Panasonic PV-DV852 from B&H Photo and Video online store for $569. It's a standard size horizontal format camcoder with good low light and full array of manual features, including focus rind and optical image stabilizer. That a lot of value for the money and the video quality is excellent.
