  1. I just don't get it. I've been reading this forum for weeks trying to figure out what brand of media I should buy. A couple of weeks ago I even took back some Verbatim disk's I bought because I read so many bad things, only to find out later that they were Ricoh. So I decided to go with TDK because from what I read here there supposed to be a good brand. I bought a 25 pack from CompUSA and they read out: CMC Mag F01 using DVDinfo. What the hell is this! A person can go completely nuts trying to get a handle on this. I read here that Memorex are crap yet the ones I have are Ricoh. I'm very upset because I thought buy buying TDK I was getting good media. BTW. DVDinfo reports that these are only 2.4 media.

  4. I fully understand where you are coming from. I had pretty good luck buying quality Fuji (ritek) and TDK (Ricoh).

I bought a 25pack of imation from staples for 29.99 last week. I was bummed out to find out they were CMC 2.4x. I was thinking about taking them back but decided to try them out. So far I have burned 15 without one coaster.

They record without issue and the playback on my RCA standalone plays with out issue even past the 4GB range. So I am happy with them but I will not buy CMC again if I can help it. My next purchase I think will be Riteks from Rima or NewEgg. That way I know what I am getting.

  6. I alway's get a burner that burn's any media I use. I do not have time to figure out what media ia good and bad. I have a Pioneer AO4 burner's any thing I put in it brand does not matter. And they play back on PS2 APEX Pioneer JVC and Sony. I have used Khypermedia and Memorex. My AO4 burner's these brand fine. WhenI had my Sony DRU500AX I could not burn Khypermedia and Memorex.MY LG 4081 also burner's Khypermedia and Memorex and any brand I use and this also goes for my Panasonic E80H. When you start to have problem's with media the laser is pitty about the die.

It would be fine if I had bought cheap disc's. But I paid a premium price for a premium product, and I got low cost CMC instead. The one I burned, burned fine. That's not the point of my post. It's just you can't trust name brands anymore. I have a TDK 420N burner so of course TDK recommends buying there brand.

On a side not can someone please tell me if the type of media (CMC MMC) has anything to do with if it will play in a home DVD player? I have a Panasonic RV32 and it does not play my +R media. Before I go out and buy a new player (any suggestions??)
I'd like to be sure it's not just the fact I have CMC disc's. Thanks all!

They play fine in my RCA DRC313N and on my girlfriends Norico or something like that and it was about the same price as an Apex from wal mart. How ever the +r's wont play on any of the other three dvd players here. Id try them on a buddys dvd player first and see what happens.

Your Panasonic player does not like the +R book type. Your TDK drive is however a rebadged NEC ND-1100A and by flashing it with either the HP dvd300n firmware or the hacked ND-1300A firmware, both available here, you can burn DVD+R with DVD-ROM book type which should play fine in your Panasonic.
