I got the Earth to the Moon DVD set for Christmas, and I have watched it several times since I got it. Since I really don't want to tear up the original discs, I wanted to back up the 4 DVDs, which have 4 one-hour episodes each. What I wanted to try is to put each individual episode on a single DVD, to eliminate the need for excess compression from DVD Shrink (and there are a couple of episodes I don't necessarily want to back up). I used DVD Decrypter to rip one of the DVDs and looked at the VOB files. The episodes are sort of scattered around the different VOB files, and a few were in SAP (Spanish). How would I go about converting the vob files to an editable video file (in Adobe Premiere 6.0, no MPEG2 support) that I can cut and paste the episodes, and remaster with Encore while maintaining the original DVD quality, or is there an easier way?
Tools I have: DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, CloneDVD, IMGTools, Premiere 6.0, Encore
Thanks in advance for the input!

Personally I would rip with DVD Decrypter. Then open in DVD Shrink and since theres 4 episodes on DVD9, you can probably put 2 or even 3 episodes on a DVD5 if you take out unnecessary audio. You will have to use the Re-Author option in DVD Shrink to do the "2-3 episodes only" thing. Then burn with Nero, CopyToDVD or some other DVD Burning program. Hope that Helps.

There on DVD-9 dual layer,4 episodes. That means 2 episodes should fit without compression. CloneDVD is the way to go. Does CloneDVD see the four episodes? Just uncheck two and CloneDVD will create a directory with the remaining two episodes and it will preserve the menus.

Yeah, I totally forgot about the option of selecting individual titles in CloneDVD. Works great, and since I am removing menus and stuff, no compression, which means it takes about 1/3 of the time to author. Awesome, thanks for the help.
