  1. Ok, from doing a forum search I see several folks who have had my problem, but I find no solution.

I have a Pioneer 106D and a Liteon 166, and I can't get above 4x ripping. The Liteon is a very recent addition (its installation signaled the start of the problem). The 106 has the firmware update to allow up to 12x ripping, which it did just fine until I installed the 166. Now I am unable to attain any speed higher than just above 4x. DMA is enabled, I've tried the drives on different IDE channels, the ASPI drivers have been uninstalled and ForceASPI is being used -- and I'm stuck.

I removed the Liteon from the system to see if it was directly affecting the speed, but after rebooting with only the 106 results were still 4x.

This is an extremely frustrating position to be in, and I know others of you have been there, or still are. If you've got the answer to set all this right, PLEASE post it here. There are those of us who would greatly appreciate it.

There are those who can, and those who can't... And then there's me!

  3. Thanks noki.... Sadly, I've tried that, too...

There has to be something that I'm missing, but, for the life of me, I can't find it...

Sometimes if you rip a burned DVD it rips slow. Although I have a hacked 105 and it rips at 16x so.
