  1. I have capture .avi file from my camcorder and save as MS DV Type 1 using Premier 6.0, then I ran CCE 2.62.01 drag file into windows and try to encode it, but I get the error message that

couldn't find apporiate video codec for 'dsvd'

Does any one has any idea about dsvd video codec.

  2. Same error for me too. Only if source is Premiere 6 exported avi. Other AVIs work just fine when I press ENCODE button. What is wrong?

are you really sure that it's dsvd and not dvsd?
    have a look here:
    http://www.webartz.com/fourcc/fcccodec.htm
and you see premiere should produce dvsd or similar.

if you see the "dsvd" or "dvsd" fourcc, beware. These could be the DV-Codecs from Mainconcept and/or Adaptec and will only work, if they're the standalone versions. The one included with for example the Hollywood Bridge doesn't work with non-mainconcept programs. My advice: deinstall all mainconcept codecs and use only the DirecShow DVApp for capturing. This will save much blood, sweat and tears

  6. Dragonsf,

This is defenitely NOT the classic 'dvsd codec' problem which is solved by installing main concept codec. The message says DSVD - no typo here: D-S-V-D. This only occurs if attempting to encode Premiere 6 exported avi. Any avi other than that, encodes just fine with CCE 2.50.

No one seems to know whats up here!

This dsvd is definitly the Adaptec Codec. Try to unsinstall this and as I said , use DVApp for capturing. I had the same problem (both dvsd and dsvd)!

  8. Adaptec Codec? I don't think I have one installed. Also can't use DVapp - capture is only one requirement, editing is the second so the product AVI will have to come out of Premiere no matter what.

So given I don't have any Adaptec software (other than EZ CD creator) what could this be?

  9. The only programs that recognize this codec (dsvd) is the EZ Cleaner 5.02, if you want this software please send me a ftp directory adress to I upload it.

  10. barbini@sercomtel.com.br,

DO you mean that installing EZ Cleaner 5 will solve the error generated by CCE? I do have EZ Cleaner - came with Premiere but never installed it?
