  3. great post...anyway to get them sooner don't their sales start on a Saturday?
BTW last spindles (of 25 each) of Imation 4x dvd+r from OD were Ricohs .and this was this week.

HINT: the paper band around the 25-pak DVD+R spindle should indicate 4x as mine did, or else you might be getting 2x stuff. Imation has been extremely bad when it comes to labeling their media. Now i think they are on the ball, at least with the last paks i bought this week.

I'm still waiting for my local OfficeMax to honor the rain check that they gave me for the $9.99 spindle of DVD-RW's that was advertised a few weeks ago. They'll probably end up trying to unload some KHypermedia @#$%^ on me instead.

There. I feel much better now.

  6. Yeah, I have a pack of dvd-r's rainchecked...the last time I went to the store, there was a pack of the exact same disks I had rainchecked, but some guy got it before me. When I complained that they hadn't reserved it for me (since I had a raincheck), they acted like they had been out of stock for two weeks....what a bunch of liars!

There, I feel better now, too

    Hi,

They also got a "Starlogic/Fourstar" DVD-R 50-pack for 9.99 after rebate. Never heard that name. Anybody got any idea?

  10. I had to reload the page at officemax.com just to make sure I wasn't seeing things, but office max has a IN-STORE 50 (fifty) pack of dvd-r for $9.99 after rebate. it is a $10 instant and a $20 mail in rebate.

Holy SHIT!!!!!! My A05 burns the crappiest stuff alive (and this may qualify- btw, it doesnt give the brand name), but at that price, who cares!.

  11. macleod, if you look closely, you'll see that the deal is even better then you think. The price is $29.99 minus the $10 Instant Rebate, and then a $20 Mail in Rebate on top of that. After it's all said and done the price is "FREE." It even says in red letters, "free." Definitely can't beat that.

The deal starts Sunday and ends on the 24th.

No, actually the price is $39.99 minus the $10 Instant Rebate, and then a $20 Mail in Rebate, making the price $9.99. The red lettered FREE is for the 50 pack thin jewel cases (after rebate) next to the DVD spindle in the flyer.

Here's the links right here. They clearly reads that the DVD MEDIA is "FREE" after $30 in rebates. It doesn't specify anything about jewel cases. It also clearly shows the price as $29.98 before rebates, making this a totally FREE deal.

The ad for officemax does not indicate the speed on those IMATION dvd media. I wonder if they're all 2x speed.

They are exactly the same as the $39.99 that are on the frontpage of their Ad. If you got to the website you can compare the style#.

I printed all the stuff up proving it's free, and I'll go there some time today to check and see if they will honor it.

    Thanks for the info.
I bought some today, knowing I could return them after doing some research today if they turned out to be KHypermedia or some other spotty brand.

    I didn't know they were 2X.
I have been burning 4X +Rs at 8X since August when the first 8X burner hit the shelves.

I was considering alternating burns between 8X and 1X-2X by burning the
name brand 4X at 8X during the day, and by kicking off the 1X burns at 1X or 2X just before going to bed.
Reliability is important too, and I know Princos haven't always been great, although you said they seem to be / are high quality.

  17. It is stardata media. I read somewhere that it had a poor review (it is also 1x). I bought a 50 pack it is 9.99 after rebate. The media looks ok on the burn side. I am testing it now.

Yes, but your links show the price as $29.98, with the $10 instant rebate ALREADY reflected in the price, then a $20 mail-in rebate. As macleod's confirmed, final price $9.99.

  19. I made another post highlighting the STARLOGIC media (too lazy to correct my earlier post saying starmedia). IT is 1x princo branded media. Just did my first burn and it plays just fine in my player. Going to have my neighbors go and get some that I can buy off of them.

Also, I bought the imation dvd-r media and it is $8 before $3 rebate. My math ain't the best, but that doesnt add up to $1.99.

Office max= Does Nixon own them

  20. [quote]The ad for officemax does not indicate the speed on those IMATION dvd media. I wonder if they're all 2x speed.

Well I went to Office Max this morning, got there about 15min before opening and there was a line of 15 people. They all went for the Imation disc's. The 25 packs of the +R and -R's are boxed spindles. Nowhere on the box is the speed. The box is sealed with a sticker. I asked one of the workers and she got all snotty with me when I asked her what the disc's were. She called back to her "guy who knows this stuff" and was told they were 4x. I ask her how does he know that since the box didn't say that and that's when she gave me the scowl. I walked off and I found this guy that had opened up a box of them. I looked at the spindle and it didn't say the speed either and the spindle say's "made in Taiwan" and it had a black bottom. So I decided to forget it, and I bought the 5 pack of +R Imation 4x disc's that come to $1.99 after rebate. This are clearly marked 4x. For that price I don't care if there crap or not. I'll test them all before I comment my data to them. They were all gone in a matter of min. And a guy asked a worker about a raincheck and was told forget it.

BTW for all the guys that don't like OM rebates, they have gone to a better system. Instead of the crap rebate book's, you get a receipt that has all the info on it,like the Staples rebates. I always make sure I write down the phone # of the rebate center so if there's a problem I can give them a call. I have only had one bad rebate in well over 70 from every kind of store. I think user error plays a big part in bad rebates. It's important to send everything that they ask for.

That was obviously the problem. The ad on the site and in the flyer said too different things. I know what I read, that's why I posted it. It clearly said "FREE" as can be seen by the copy and paste of the ad I made.

Were you able to get the disks free due to their mistake on their website? They obviously figured out the error as the links no longer specify free.

I didn't go to get them but has anyone been able to burn these disks @ 2x?

  23. Imation 25-pak DVD-R media has a $20.00 mail-in rebate, but no $15.00 instant rebate like the +R media. look at page 7 of their rebate book. good until 1/24. no one at the store seem to know this. but nowadays $1.20 per media is actually expensive. plus it might be 2x media happy shopping.

Along with their new rebate system, they only give you 1 rebate receipt. BB, CompUSA give you 2 if you buy 2 items the same.

Bought 2 of the Starlogic 50 packs, purple bottom, don't know what they are yet.

They were already out of the +RWs, but the guy at my local OM took an order for 2 5 packs to be delivered to my house.

I'm still a little pissed, tho', that they will put an item on sale and not honor a raincheck from 2 weeks ago sale.

    Cheers,

    George

  29. My local OfficeMax offered to substitute a 25 disk spindle of Memorex +R's. I'm leary of Memorex, however. Has anyone used them with a Sony DRU 500A?

    Thanks...

  30. Crazy deal.
Went to get the 5pack of DVD+R for 1.99 after rebate. They didn't have them but gave me a raincheck. Went back two weeks later, still didn't have them, argued and they gave me 10pack Imation DVD+R for $4 bucks, NO REBATE!!!!!!!!

    DVDInfo shows CMC MAG R01.

Anyone had problems with LiteOn 411S with this media. Would be a damn shame to return them to the store for $4.
