  1. Someone help me out and save me some time? I keep changing settings and comparing video captures but i can't figure out what is the best..i'm going in circles here...

I checked out lordsmurf's site and if i'm correct it recommended 352x480 mpeg2 @ 4bit/s for capturing high quality tv broadcasts..

but when i look at a commercial DVD specs it says 720x480 @ 9.8bit/sec... and if i'm correct 8bit/sec which is devoted to the video..

    but if i try and capture @ 8.0bit/sec constant bit rate 720x480 192kbps audio my 1hr 30min capture is like 6.5Gig... can someone tell me how commercial DVD's hold a 2hr movie + extras @ 720x480 8bits...?

also, does it matter if i capture tv broadcast @ 720x480? or is this mainly for like camcorders and stuff?

    (using ATI MMC)

if anyone else using ATI MMC what is the difference between MPEG-2 & MPEG-2 DVD? just curious...

    thnx for any help....

Because commercial DVD's are dual layer and can therefore store twice as much data as a DVDR

No it does not matter, its just unnecessary.
