  2. Don't buy a Win-TV GO: it sux: when I connected my VCR to it the picyure had "wavy" lines - especially noticeable in mauve/blue colored scenes.

  3. The WINTV card he is talking about you can get rid of those lines by disconnecting everything from the VCR, DVD or Laser Disc player except the video/audio line from the player to your computer, my wavy lines went away and I get a perfect picture now and WINGO TV cards are $49 and you can capture in DIVX if your computer is fast enough.
Actually if you got the bucks a MPEG hardware encoder is the way to go like a Dazzle II for $299 or Hauppuage (I have) for $249 then you can capture MPEG1 or MPEG2 in real time.

  5. I have disconnected everything: my vcr is only connected to my pc, I even ermove my modem, audio output leads etc...everything that didn't need to be connected to my pc whilst capturing, and the lines are still there.

  6. I have just found a site that backs my claim:
    http://www.dscaler.org/card-support/WinTV-Go_Notes.htm

It seems to affect PAL cards and PAL VHS sources. No software fix yet
