Why do so many movies have a Dolby Digital French soundtrack? I frequently have to remove this from movies when I back them up using DVD Shrink.
Does Francois Mitterand have some dirt that he is blackmailing Hollywood studios with?
Or is it just that Hollywood liberals feel an affinity for France, since they both hate the United States approximately equally?

Not really France, but if its a region 1 DVD there is a good chance its also for Canada. In Canada we have bilingulism and most things sold has to have French for the Quebec market. So its prob just easier for the DVD mastering companies to make copies in reg 1 with French so to support the Canada/Quebec market.

Jeez, you''re right! These have all been region 1 DVDs, so your answer seems logical. I forgot about Quebec, and I've even been there a couple of times. Montreal, anyway. Great city. Nice people, who don't roll their eyes and look or sound disgusted when you speak English to them.
How stupid of me to not think of that.

Places like play ship from Quebec, I think it is cheaper there than the states, hence the french dd and the crappy dual language boxes and discs.

I have figured (along with alot of other people I hope) that the following Countries: France, German and propably Spain are dubbing every movie that's made.
Personally I'm not a fond of dubbing, with exceptions movies headed towards children. I mean, they have no use of movies they can't understand.
And most of the popular movies today does not contain very advanced language, and they comes with subtitles.10110101100111012011 <- The bug Bill doesn't talk about.

it also for people who speaks french (france, belgium, switzerland...) in europe so they could buy reg 1 dvd , generally reg 1 dvd are released before reg 2 dvd, sometimes the movie is not released in theaters in europe and the movie is yet available in reg 1 dvd. So we could see the movie 'en avant-première'
In france the movie is first in movie theaters and we must wait at least 6 months to have the reg2 dvd.

fatbloke: If that is what Bush thought then why didn't he say so? WMD was the reason he gave to go to war. Bush's father incited the people of Iraq to revolt and then left them out to dry and be killed. Bush 1 holds as much credit for that as Sadam. Bush told us "HE KNEW" they had WMD!!! If we can't trust what he says about going to war than what can we trust? It's not OUR place to be the police of the world. If the people of Iraq wanted Sadam gone they could have taken him out at any time. So why didn't they? They don't have a problem attaching OUR troops, now do they!!! I a country where every home has a gun you'd think someone could have taken care of him themselves.
