  1. I want to convert a number of tracks from mp3 to mp2 is there a way to automate this so I don't have to convert each individual track ?

  2. Besweet is a good bet.

I would use the Gui to figure out the command line for one track. Cuta nd paste it into a .bat file and replicate it for each track, just changing the filenames.

mp2 is less compressed than mp3, so to maintain quality file size will actually have to increase.

If you are having no luck with besweet, TmpGenc can encode audio only. Set each file up as a seperate project then use the batch encode feature.

  6. Can't help with compliency I'm afraid - don't do DVD's! But Besweet batch processing will do what you want.

Open the gui and set up as if you were going to convert just 1 file (set the bitrate and choose your encoder (toolame or mpg2enc) then go into batch mode;drag and drop your mp3 files and press Besweets list > Multiple MP2 and let it run. The sound quality is fine for me but ,as I say, I've no idea about DVD compliance
