  1. I've been all over this website and others looking for a specific tool for the Mac and I've come up empty handed. The tools explained on the "how to" guide on this website all seem to be for Windoze machines.

What I want to do is edit an mpeg-2 (or vob) file without having to recompress it under MacOS X. Nothing fancy, I just want to cut sections out or maybe a cut `n paste or two.

Sure I can convert it to DivX or DV NTSC and edit it in Final Cut Pro and then recompress it back to mpeg2 but that degrades the video.

QuickTime Pro (with mpeg2 component installed) allows crude editing but the results were unplayable (even in QT) in my test. I have downloaded many apps but none seem to allow me to do what I want.

Does Cinematize allow this? I will buy an app if necessary.

    Any help appreciated.

There's an mpeg cutter in Gumby <http://gumby.misplacedmac.com/>.

dsp2 (dvd studio pro 2) would allow cuts to a certain extent without recompressing or anything.

you'd do it in the timeline.
